thanks everyone! but i'm not a beginning player as an ele, i've been playing an ele for a really long time, but only stuck to nuking in zaishen elite, aoe in regular pve, and capping stuff in JQ and AB. the raptor farm was never really useful for me. so i guess i'll try some of your suggestions =D

Dear god no more arguing about which is better. For crying out loud it depends on the situation at hand. There is no one supreme build for every area.

That being said, I too have just restarted my ele and just blasted through the factions campaign, got 15k armor, a few greens and I'm ready to do some farming. I was looking through the skill set and realized that it's probably pretty easy for eles to farm. Earth magic looks like it has a lot of potential in that area. I do remember there being an E/A that could solo FoW for awhile too.

Also, as for PvP, eles can be pretty outrageous. The worst thing about an ele though, is getting interrupted and people have learned that interrupts are a great thing. I've been having some fun experimenting in JQ though, so I can tell you a fun build to use in there is actually the water elementalist. Melee characters can't catch you from the kiting, maelstrom + water hex = pwnt for other casters, and as for capping, just hit it off with maelstrom to start so they can't hurl lightning hammer on you.

Also try combining elements. Water and air is fun stuff, especially with some of the combos like arc lightning. Air and earth can be pretty good too if you're going for some weakness + kd. I've always found air to be great for spiking and anti melee.

Basically, just go through the skill set and try different stuff out. I've been finding a million different possibilities with just my E/A. I've been experimenting with bringing my fire attribute up to 20 which does some crazy nuker damage in nm. Anyway, good luck and let me know if you find any good farming places/builds!

Let me reiterate: if you want to be useful as an ele, run E/R healprot. I play around with earth (AOE + EBSoH) for fun, but if you want to play damage - roll a necro.

That's not to say you can't run over most of the game with a really terrible build using meteor shower with no quick cast or recharge, but it's just disgusting =/

And wards.

Generally elementalists are filler in groups when they can't find a necromancer or mesmer.
